Introducing Buraydah
Buraydah is a major city in central Saudi Arabia, distinguished by its strong agricultural base and rich culinary heritage. Its fertile lands and long-established agricultural activity have made the city a prominent center for the production and trade of dates, grains, vegetables, and other local products, shaping a distinctive food culture closely connected to its agricultural environment.

Challenges and actions
Buraydah, due to its location in a desert environment, faces climate and environmental challenges including rising temperatures, climate variability, efficient use of water resources, and the conservation of natural and agricultural resources.
In response to these challenges, the city has implemented a range of environmental and agricultural initiatives focused on expanding tree planting, enhancing vegetation cover, increasing the presence of palm trees, supporting the agricultural sector, and improving resource efficiency. These initiatives and programs have contributed to improving the urban environment, mitigating the impacts of climate variability, and strengthening the sustainability of the agricultural environment and its capacity to support local food production.
In the field of gastronomy, Buraydah builds on its strong agricultural base to promote local and seasonal products, connect culinary heritage with local production, encourage food waste reduction and more sustainable food practices, and strengthen the integration of agriculture, gastronomy, and environmental sustainability.
