Governance & Collaboration

/ How ICFG Works

A city-led network with a clear structure.

Food systems are local, but their environmental consequences are global. Cities are where much of the world's food is bought, prepared and eaten, and where municipal waste is collected and managed. This lets them link prevention, collection and recovery into one system.

ICFG brings Cities of Gastronomy together to share knowledge, run pilot actions and build evidence for what works. The network gives each city a method it can adapt: a common framework, practical guides and documented experience from other cities. Implementation and its budget remain the responsibility of each city.

/ Governance

Who does what.

Coordination · Gaziantep

Secretariat

The Secretariat runs the network day to day. It coordinates the city dialogue, supports members, manages communications and serves as the contact point for cities and partners. It is hosted and fully funded by Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality.

Strategic direction

Steering Committee

The Steering Committee sets the network's strategy, approves the annual work plan and decides on new members and partnerships. It is made up of the founding cities: Gaziantep, Konya, Parma and Belém.

Technical and scientific guidance

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee brings together experts from universities, research centres and international organisations. It advises on measurement methods, guides and pilot design, so that ICFG's results stay credible and comparable.

Funding and partnerships

Financial Advisory Group

The Financial Advisory Group helps cities and the network find funding for their actions. Sources include development banks, climate funds, philanthropy and private partners. It advises on financing models, not on how city budgets are spent.
